If you do own a recalled model, Keurig will send along a free repair kit, and in the meantime, you can still use the machine - just don't brew more than two cups one after the other, and stay an arm's length away from the machine while it's brewing. The company is voluntarily recalling any MINI Plus Brewing System units with model number K10 (formerly identified as B31) produced prior to July 2014. According to the Associated Press, Keurig received 200 complaints of hot water escaping while brewing, and 90 reports of burns from the coffee makers. This problem is especially a concern if you try to brew two or more cups in quick succession. and Canada because the water in them can overheat and escape during use, leading to a possible risk of burns. The brewers are made by Keurig Green Mountain Inc., based in Waterbury, Vt.Keurig has recalled 7.1 million of its coffee brewers in the U.S. The recalled brewers have model number K10 and have an identification number starting with “31” printed on the bottom.
They were sold for about $100 online and at retailers across the country, including Kmart, Kohl’s, Target and Walmart.
About 6.6 million of the brewers are in the United States, and nearly 600,000 are in Canada. Customers who own the brewers can contact the company and have a repair kit sent free. Keurig received about 200 reports of hot liquid spraying from the brewer, including 90 reports of injuries. The company warned customers to keep an arm’s length away from the brewers until there were fixed, and not brew more than two cups in quick succession. The recall is for Keurig’s Mini Plus brewers made between 20. Keurig is recalling more than seven million of its single-serve coffee brewing machines after reports that a number of them had spewed hot liquids and injured dozens of users.
